Renowned actress Shabana Azmi's illustrious 50-year career in cinema will be celebrated at the upcoming New York Indian Film Festival, scheduled from May 31 to June 2.

Shabana Azmi, a veteran of Indian cinema for five decades, will be honored at the New York Indian Film Festival. The festival will commemorate her remarkable journey with a special screening of her 1996 film Fire.

The 24th edition of the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) will pay tribute to Shabana Azmi's extensive contributions to Indian and international cinema.

The festival will feature a diverse lineup of 49 narratives, documentaries, and short films, showcasing the talent of prominent actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah.

This year's festival aims to represent the depth and diversity of contemporary Indian cinema by featuring films in 12 Indian languages.

Shabana Azmi, a recipient of five National Film Awards for Best Actress, has been honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012.

With a remarkable filmography spanning five decades, Shabana Azmi has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. From her debut in Shyam Benegal's Ankur (1974) to acclaimed performances in films like Arth, Sparsh, and City of Joy, she has consistently delivered powerful performances.

In addition to her contributions to Indian cinema, Shabana Azmi has also ventured into Hollywood, starring in acclaimed productions like Madame Sousatzka and City of Joy.

Aside from her acting prowess, Shabana Azmi is known for her insightful film critiques. Recently, she praised Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi's performances in the film Do Aur Do Pyaar, highlighting their exceptional acting skills.
