Scrutiny of personal life: Ravi Mohan announces break from films
text_fieldsChennai: South Indian actor Ravi Mohan has announced a temporary break from films and acting until his ongoing divorce proceedings are fully resolved, in a dramatic development that has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film industry and among his fans. The actor made the announcement during a press conference on Saturday, saying the personal turmoil surrounding his family life had reached a stage where he could no longer continue professionally without mental peace.
The emotional interaction drew widespread attention after Ravi Mohan broke down while speaking about his children and the intense scrutiny surrounding his personal life. The announcement came shortly after social media influencer Kenishaa Francis reportedly deactivated her Instagram account following sustained cyberattacks and trolling over her friendship with the actor. Ravi Mohan said the online abuse and public speculation over recent months had caused severe emotional distress, particularly because people had begun questioning his love and commitment towards his children.
The actor stated that he had remained silent for the past 14 years but had now reached a breaking point. He said he had not seen his children for a long period and described the allegations against him as deeply painful. Ravi Mohan revealed that he spends nearly Rs 50 lakh annually on his children’s school fees and has taken extraordinary measures, including arranging security for them, to ensure their safety and well-being.
He also recalled spending time playing chess with his younger son and deliberately allowing the child to win just to see him happy, adding that his children knew the kind of father he had always been. Ravi Mohan said he had tried to prevent his personal crisis from affecting his career, but the situation had spiralled beyond control. He added that no new films featuring him would be released until the legal proceedings conclude, as he now wants to prioritise mental stability and personal peace.
