Mumbai: Richa Chadha, known for her diverse roles in the film industry, recently shared an incident where she was offered a role as actor Hrithik Roshan's mother, despite being younger than him.

Expressing her thoughts on this occurrence, she highlighted the injustice it brings to older actors who already face limited opportunities in the industry.

During an interview with ABPLive, the actress expressed her displeasure and said, "I felt that this is wrong that you are taking young and attractive actors and ageing them."

She revealed that at 21 years old, she was offered the role based on someone's notion that she portrayed older women well.

However, she recognised the talent of the actor who eventually portrayed the character, acknowledging the unfairness of taking away opportunities from older actors whose roles are already diminishing. "Later, the actor who actually played that part is a very good artist."

Richa Chadha drew attention to her role in 'Gangs of Wasseypur' where she portrayed an older character, which led to the offer of playing Hrithik Roshan's mother. She discussed the disparity in how ageing was portrayed in the film industry, mentioning, "In Gangs of Wasseypur, I never felt that I would be singled out. Everyone's story was 30-40 years ahead."

The actress addressed the issue of sexism in the industry, highlighting the selective focus on certain aspects. She emphasised that actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Huma Qureshi, and Piyush Mishra also underwent ageing transformations in the same film.

Richa Chadha was last seen in Fukrey 3 and is set to appear in Anubhav Sinha's upcoming film, 'Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai.'
