Telugu-Hindi actress Payal Ghosh has tendered an unconditional apology to Bollywood actress Richa Chaddha, ending a longstanding defamation suit. The Bombay High Court closed the case after the apology had been received. Richa Chadda has said that she has no plans to pursue further legal action against Payal.

However, the actress has decided to pursue the defamation suit against Kamaal.R.Khan and TV channel ABN Andhrajyothy. The court has asked Kamaal to submit his statement, and hearing has been postponed to six weeks from now.

Payal Ghosh had levelled sexual harassment allegations against notable Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. In a TV interview, Ghosh spoke out about Kashyap's insistence on sexual favours from her and alleged that he had mentioned Richa Chadda and other actresses who were previous conquests. It was in response to this that Chadda filed a defamation suit of Rs 1.10 crores.

In response to Ghosh's allegations, several friends and actresses of the director had spoken up, claiming there was a conspiracy to malign his image.
