Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan's comeback to the silver screen after four long years finally hit theatres on Wednesday. The reaction from viewers suggests that the pre-release exhilaration has translated to the screen.

The story of Pathaan is about an Indian spy who goes up against the leader of a group of mercenaries targeting India. The espionage thriller is expected to be a super hit and it delivers in terms of action sequences as promised by its trailer.

The Hollywood-level production has been translated to the screen with Satchith Paulose's cinematography capturing visuals in Spain, Russia, Dubai, Italy, and France. The engaging script is not failed by its stars, reported IANS.

SRK aka Pathaan is an exiled RAW field operative and he is being brought back to take down John Abraham's Jim, who also happens to be his yesteryear nemesis. Jim is a former RAW agent who went rogue and now leads Outfit X, a private terrorist organisation. The group is planning to release a deadly virus called Raktbeej across India.

The movie is filled with unusually fast-paced plot moves involving RAW agents, spies, and terrorists. While SRK plays a retired patriot, Dimple Kapadia plays his boss Nandini. Ashutosh Rana plays their supreme boss who is figuring out how to save the people from the looming threat.

Deepika Padukone plays Rubina Khan, a former ISI agent, the intelligence agency of Pakistan. However, her true intentions are hard to guess because Jim is hired by Pakistan unhappy over the revocation of Article 370 which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. Jim happens to be a perfect choice because he was earlier double-crossed by the Indian government. Fans are impressed by Deepika's high-energy performance. Her character also brings another dimension of twists and turns to the cat-and-mouse chase between Jim and Pathaan, wrote Pinkvilla.

The audience also appears to be happy about Salman Khan's cameo and there is a long action sequence showing off the camaraderie shared by the two big Khans of Bollywood. Many are now excited about the union of Pathaan and Tiger.
