A day after the trailer of Middle Class Love was released, it is clear that the movie is likely to resonate with the middle class of India. Producer Anubhav Sinha and director Ratnaa Sinha have presented the common issues youngsters from middle-class families face in a light and funny way.

It is clear that the director has no intention to tell a sob story. The trailer is filled with comical relief and a college atmosphere that reminds the audience of Bollywood in the 2000s.

The protagonist played by Prit Kamani is a young boy growing up in a middle-class family where he is taught to think twice before spending each penny. Frustrated with the lifestyle, he thinks college is his chance to break this pattern and join the ranks of the rich. Prit soon crosses paths with the rich girl played by Kavya Thapar and a "nice girl" played by Eisha Singh.

Prit is often seen complaining to his mother and friends about the issues with the middle-class lifestyle. He says being middle class is a disease called "Middleclassiosis". Talking about the need to break the cycle, he says if the current way of life continues, his son will curse him like he is cursing his father.

Set in Mussoorie, the campus is likely to remind viewers of sets of iconic films like Main Hoon Na and Mohabbatein.

Director Ratnaa Sinha has been careful to avoid grim vibes and make the story hilarious. She said she knew she had to push herself to make something different after the love her first film received. "I wanted to set my second film in a middle-class milieu and delve into what it means for a young boy to belong to that stratum of society aiming to break out of it."

Her first film Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017) was a romance-drama comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda.

She added that college life is also a phase of self-discovery, making blunders, owning up to mistakes, and realising the value of family support. "I wanted to give my audience a comforting film that they will connect with. We also went against the tide to cast three new actors and I hope that the audience blesses their first film."

Sinha has once again joined hands with Zee Studios. Her first film was distributed by Zee and this time around, the studio has produced the movie with her spouse Anubhav Sinha.

Director-producer Anubhav Sinha said he is proud of how a simple story has been told with flair. "I believe in telling stories rooted in reality and this time around what sets this film apart is along with it being raw, it weaves around a young and quirky love story. I am really excited for the audience to experience the film."

The film is set to release on September 16.
