Mumbai: Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is making a comeback to Indian screens. However, he will not be starring in an Indian production.

The Kapoor & Sons fame actor will be seen in a Pakistani production which hit screens on October 13. After its widespread success, his new film 'The Legend of Maula Jatt' is going to be released in India as well. The film also stars Raees fame Mahira Khan. Both actors have a huge fan following in India because of their soap opera Humsafar.

The Legend of Maula Jatt is directed by Bilal Lashari. It is an adaptation of 1979 cult classic 'Maula Jatt'. Producers have clarified that the new version is neither a remake nor a sequel. In the film, local folk hero Maula Jatt is fighting against his enemy and leader of a brutal clan Noori Natt.

The Pakistani Punjabi-language action drama has already grossed over $10 million worldwide. It broke several box office records and became the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time and the highest-grossing Punjabi film. At the time of its release in the UK, The Guardian called it "Game of Thrones" meets "Gladiator."
