Mumbai: Bollywood actress Shweta Tripathi Sharma recently opened up about gender discrimination in her profession and particularly in sets. She confirmed that male actors are treated differently.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, she said men in the film industry are often treated in an obviously better way. As an example, she recalled her team being not provided with food arrangements on the set while her male co-actor's team was getting it. She added that the discrimination she has experienced is at a very small percentage due to the kind of projects she has done.

She further said that sometimes she went through certain experiences and projects without realising that something wrong was happening because the rest of the experiences were full of love, respect, and support.

After years of experience in the industry, the actress says she now knows that basics are not to be compromised on. "Now I know better. I will put my foot down or I might be walking out. It is sometimes very important to walk out to make a statement. Having said that, it is very important to find a solution. Because everybody is here to work but finding a solution does not equal bending down or giving in."

"You know in my head, I want to be gender-neutral. And by gender neutral, what I mean is- I don't want to think because I'm a girl. mujhe aise karna hai (I want to do it like that). I am who I am. Yes, I'm a girl, I'm a woman. There are a lot of archetypes that everybody has, each gender has. But I'm a professional, I’m an actor. Male- female wo hai, lekin usse pehle main insaan hu (before the gender, I am a human). Aur sahi galat dono sabhi genders ke liye ek hota hai (right and wrong is the same for all genders)," she added.

She will be soon seen in Mirzapur 3 which is one of the most popular series she has worked on.
