Actor Mansoor Ali Khan files defamation suit against Trisha, Chiranjeevi, and Kushboo
text_fieldsChennai: Actor Mansoor Ali Khan has initiated legal action by filing a defamation suit before the Madras High Court against actors Trisha, Chiranjeevi, and Bharatiya Janata Party member Kushboo Sundar.
He alleged that these individuals made defamatory remarks about him on social media, distorting a joke he had made, and misrepresenting it out of context.
In his suit yet to be heard, Khan claims that Trisha and others distorted his comments without verifying the truth, thereby making defamatory statements against him. He clarifies that his remarks were centred around the negative roles he portrayed and did not contain any personal attacks against Trisha, his co-star in the film Leo.
Khan contends that his comments pertained to the diminishing trend of negative character roles in cinema, emphasising that he did not target any individual or make personal remarks against any woman, including Trisha.
The controversy emerged during a promotional press meet for the film Leo, where Khan allegedly made derogatory comments of a misogynistic nature regarding his lack of shared screen space and intimate scenes with Trisha, which sparked widespread criticism from actors like Chiranjeevi, Kushboo Sundar, Trisha, and the makers of Leo, expressed through social media posts.
Following the uproar and subsequent backlash, the Chennai police registered an FIR against Khan after the National Commission for Women took note of his remarks. Khan publicly apologised to Trisha in response to the controversy.
However, Khan has now taken legal action by approaching the High Court, filing a defamation suit against the mentioned actors for distorting his comments and allegedly making defamatory statements against him on social media.
