66th Grammy Awards: Taylor Swift makes history with 4th Album of the Year win

Mumbai: Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift made history by winning the coveted Grammy award for Album of the Year for 'Midnights' for an unprecedented fourth time as women dominated the music industry's top honours.
The pop superstar won Best Pop Vocal Album for the same album ‘Midnights’ and also announced from the Grammys stage that she would release a new album in April.
She defeated her fellow nominees Olivia Rodrigo, Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey and Janelle Monae. ‘Midnights’ is the tenth studio album by Swift.
Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, who gave a scintillating performance on the song ‘What Was I Made For?’ from the blockbuster film ‘Barbie’, bagged the Song Of The Year award for the same song at the ongoing 66th edition of the Grammy Awards.
She edged out fellow nominees like Dua Lipa, Jon Batiste, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA and Taylor Swift in the Song of the Year category. Billie has been nominated in six categories at the ongoing awards ceremony.
Billie, who was accompanied by her brother on piano during their performance, was clad in a green plaid coat, a green dress and a pink head scarf, also donning dramatic black sunglasses for the performance. After her performance, the singer received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus also marked her second win at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards as she clinched the honour for Record of the Year for her song ‘Flowers’. She won the trophy for Best Pop Solo Performance category for the same song.
Music legend Stevie Wonder led the charge as stars paid tribute to the music legends the world lost last year at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
He kicked off the ceremony's annual ‘In Memoriam’ segment by paying tribute to his late friend and fellow musical icon, Tony Bennett, who died in July 2023 at age 96, reports People magazine.
After Wonder performed another Bennett track, ‘The Best Is Yet to Come’, Annie Lennox took the stage to honour legendary songwriter and activist Sinead O'Connor, who died last July at age 56.
Finally, following a touching introductory remark from her friend Oprah Winfrey, the ‘Queen of Rock 'n' Roll’, Tina Turner received a high-energy tribute from Fantasia Barrino.
Barrino, 39, honoured Turner who died last May at age 83, with a powerful performance of Turner's hit ‘Proud Mary’, complete with a stage full of backup dancers rocking the singer's signature look: tiered fringe dresses.
The singer also made her way into the crowd, sharing a dance break with Dua Lipa and encouraging all of the women in the audience to "move your feet for Tina Turner!"
The 66th annual Grammy Awards, which recognises the best recordings, compositions, and artists are being held at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles with Trevor Noah as the show's host.
Heavy traffic around the Grammy venue in California, exacerbated by a storm, was further worsened by pro-Palestinian protests. Demonstrators, carrying Palestinian flags and signs, blocked checkpoints, took over a crosswalk, and chanted in support of Palestine before retreating after 10 minutes.
