New Delhi: Days after getting caught, the five men who hit a scooty-riding woman and dragged her for 12 km to a brutal death, admitted that they were aware that her body was tangled to the underside of the car, NDTV reported.

They told the police that they did not stop the car because of fear.

Twenty-year-old Anjali, the victim of the horrific incident, was going home when she was hit by a car around 2 am in the morning. She was with a friend then, who fell on the other side and escaped without injuries.

After the hit, her leg got stuck in the car's fore axle, and the car dragged her away. The car had dragged her for 13 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.

On January 1, five men were arrested and were charged with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder", rash driving, and causing death by negligence.

The allegedly drunk men had realised that the woman was caught under the car but kept driving around the same place and took multiple U-turns, intending to shake off the body.

The one who was driving, Amit Khanna, did not have any licence to drive a car.

Anjali's dead body was found at 4.40 am with her clothes ripped off and her back peeled away, reports NDTV.
