Bengaluru: Infosys, India's second-largest software services company, has instructed certain entry and mid-level employees to work from the office for ten days a month, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The move by Infosys aligns with a global trend of companies reconsidering or adjusting remote work policies that were initially established during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Firms are now citing reasons such as improved efficiency and enhanced collaboration as drivers for this change.

While Infosys has not officially commented on this news, they have communicated the decision via email to specific staff members. This new policy will go into effect on November 20, and it will not apply to all employees, reported Reuters.

CEO Salil Parekh shared the company's perspective, stating that they aim to maintain flexibility for their employees. He also highlighted the growing trend of employees returning to the office voluntarily, a trend he anticipates will continue.

Last week, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy stirred controversy by encouraging young Indians to work 70 hours a week for the nation's development.

In contrast, larger competitor Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already required employees to return to the office for five days a week. Similarly, tech giants like Amazon and Google have also communicated their expectations for employees to work from the office for at least several days each week.
