Indian Railways with fresh idea to mitigate 'waiting list' mess
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Indian Railway is going to introduce an app that the public transit system promises that travellers need not have to wait endlessly for a train ticket to be confirmed, Dainik Bhaskar reported.
The largest public sector establishment in India, Indian Railway, will allot confirmed tickets to everyone in December this year, meeting the demand with supply. The same is going to be achieved through the ‘Super App’ the railways are going to introduce.
The public institution is all set to implement the new project in phases, and the first phase will cater to select train routes, which will have a radius of 500 km. Deliberations are going on on where to first implement the new system. Railway aims to provide confirmed seats to 90 per cent of those booking on the new app. The users were made aware of this in the app.
The plan is to run an extra train in all popular trains running select tracks at an interval of one hour for confirmed seats. Thus, those who left out will get their seats confirmed on these additional trains, the report states.
The extra train will be assigned according to the category of people who have waiting tickets, the report says. That is, if more people have waiting tickets for sleepers, then this class of coaches will be more in the additional train.
Railway believes that the new initiative will make the Waiting Lists a thing of the past. Also, users with a sleeper ticker will be able to travel in AC coaches if such coaches are more in that particular train. Officials informed us that the passenger would not have to pay extra fare for the same.
