Elon Musk sets out to search new Twitter CEO
text_fieldsTwitter's new owner Elon Musk is actively searching for a new CEO as he fired the former CEO Parag Agrawal soon after taking charge.
The billionaire had opened a poll asking people whether he should quit as the CEO of the popular social media platform. Around 57.5% voted for him to step down and 42.5% of people were against the move. According to Musk, over 17.5 million people took part in the poll launched on Sunday evening.
He had said that he will abide by the results of the online poll but did not specify when he will step down.
It has been a little over a month since Musk took over Twitter. Since he showed interest in Twitter, shares of his other company Tesla have been plummeting. Since April, Tesla shares have gone down 58%. After Musk hinted at him stepping down as the head of Twitter, Tesla stock rose 5.3% on Monday. Last week, Tesla closed at a two-year low presumably because Musk is preoccupied with Twitter. This also cost Musk his position at the top of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
According to CNBC's David Faber, the hunt for a CEO has been ongoing for a while now. However, Musk has been open about the tenure being short.
