Bengal Governor: BJP says Dhankar is the ideal Governor

Kolkata: After a new Governor has been appointed in the Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal, BJP in the state said that former Governor and incumbent Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhangar, was a model for how governors should act in their office, NDTV reported.

While in the West Bengal Governor's chair, Dhangar was at loggerheads with the state government, led by Mamata Banerjee, which is extremely critical of the BJP-led Centre.

BJP MLA Manoj Tigga told NDTV that the Governor is the highest constitutional post in the state and a Governor can follow Dhankar's path. He said that the relationship between state administration and the Governor is "cordial and pleasant", quotes NDTV. BJP wishes the state to progress, and for that, the Bengal government must build good ties as well as cooperate with the Union government.

Meanwhile, the freshly appointed Governor CV Ananda Bose, a former bureaucrat who has deep ties with the NDA-led Centre, said that a Governor is supposed to act as the "rainbow bridge" between the state and central governments. Governor is supposed to resolve all conflicts between Raj Bhavan and the TMC government here with the "right solutions".

He added that the differences between the Raj Bhawan and the state government must not be viewed as a conflict, but a "difference in opinion" since both are complementary institutions. "I prefer a resolution of conflicts because there is a solution to every problem, and we should arrive at the right solution. We should be able to keep all actors in the game together. Therefore, I would say what the constitution expects - that the Governor has to know the way, show the way and go the way," he told PTI.
