8 labourers electrocuted during road construction in Rajasthan
text_fieldsJaipur: At least eight workers died and several others suffered burn injuries after a road construction machine came into contact with a high-voltage power line in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred in Chapoli village when a machine used to mix gravel for road construction touched an overhead high-tension electricity wire. The contact caused electricity to pass through the equipment, electrocuting workers at the site.

The incident prompted protests by local residents, who gathered at the construction site and demanded action against those responsible for the safety arrangements. Police and other officials reached the location and initiated further inquiries into the circumstances of the accident.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the deaths and directed officials to ensure adequate medical care for the injured and immediate assistance to the affected families. He also ordered an investigation into the incident.
