New Delhi: Lok Sabha MP from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, has slammed "The Kerala Story", taking it to Twitter.

Sharing a poster of the movie- which featured the central character with the words "uncovering the truth that was kept hidden"- Tharoor said, "It may be *your* Kerala story. It is not *our* Kerala story."

The controversial movie has been making headlines for a while after its trailer was released recently. The trailer claims that around 32,000 women went missing in Kerala, and they were trapped by brainwashed Muslim youths into relationships, converted and get married later. They were made to join the terrorist group ISIS and were later employed as pawns in terrorist missions inside India and outside.

Earlier, Kerala Congress urged the state government not to give permission to screen the movie, which is full of lies that paint the Muslim community in a bad light. The Leader of the Opposition in Kerala, VD Satheesan, alleged that it is part of a vicious agenda to sow the seeds of hatred and religious animosity in the state, but people here will stand together. He alleged that Sangh Parivar is behind the movie, which intends to defame the state and the community.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also went vocal on Sunday, saying that the makers of the movie are selling the Sangh Parivar, projecting that Kerala is the centre of religious extremism.

The movie Adah Sharma is to release in theatres on May 5.
