York student hurls eggs at King Charles, shouting "not my king"
text_fieldsNew Delhi: A 23-year-old man was arrested in York on charges of causing public disorder after he had thrown eggs at King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla on Wednesday.
The royals escaped getting hit by the egg after the student from University of York targeted them during the royal walkabout in York.
As he went berserk, the man was heard shouting at the king "this country was built on the blood of slaves," and "not my king", reports say.
The king, however, ignored the man while being escorted out of the site to be welcomed by the city leaders.
The university expressed shock at the incident saying it was "appalled", adding that it would look at the incident in line with misconduct procedures, according to the BBC.
The crowd waiting to cheer the royals started muttering "God save the King" followed by another chant "shame on you" targeting the egg thrower.
After the demise of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III was formally became the King of Britain on September 10 at St James's Palace in London.
