Washington DC: US Department of State official spokesperson Matthew Miller said the US consular team in India are making a ‘huge push’ to process as many visa applications as possible in India.

Matthew Miller was responding to a press enquiry about what India could expect from US in terms of visa, among others areas, in the wake of PM Modi’s state visit this month.

‘With respect to visas, our consular teams have been making a huge push to process as many visa applications as possible in India, including in those visa categories that are key to the bilateral relationship. This is a top priority for our government,’ Miller was quoted as saying.

Without expanding further on the offer on cards from the US side, he said ‘I don't want to get ahead of the White House about what kind of announcements we might have related to the trip’.

Matthew Miller called his India-Us ties as one of the ‘most consequential relationships,’ adding that both nations ‘work closely on the most vital priorities’.

PM Narendra Modi will visit the US on June 21, to attend among other programs a state dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House, the Ministry of External Affairs previously said.

PM Modi will address he joint meeting of the US Congress for the second time alongside meeting CEOs of top US companies at John F Kennedy Centre in Washington.
