Will hit Iran back in appropriate time and method: Israel
text_fieldsJerusalem: Israel would choose the appropriate time and method to retaliate against Iran’s unprecedented attack on its territory on Saturday night, Israeli minister Benny Gantz said late on Sunday, reports NDTV.
The statement comes after Iran said that their attack should be deemed as a conclusion of the escalation between the two and warned Israel against any further attacks.
Israel’s representative to the United Nations demanded the UN Security Council to impose all possible sanctions on Iran. Earlier, G7 leaders had said that they were ready to “take further actions”, in a response to “destabilizing initiative”, unmistakably a reference to Iran’s armed action.
Earlier, Iran’s envoy to the United Nations said that the Islamic Republic is exercising its right “to self-defence”. Tehran says that its attack on Israel was a necessary response to the latter’s attack on its consulate building in Damascus, which killed Iranian officials. It warned that if Israel chooses to respond to their latest attack or “make another mistake”, it will hit back severely.
Meanwhile, the US told Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington would not provide any armed assistance to Israel if it chose to attack Iran.
However, on Sunday, US President Joe Biden said that its forces assisted Israel in dealing with offensive launches from Iran and added that he has intentions to convene with the G7 leaders to prepare a strategic response to Tehran. Also, the Israeli military announced that it had formed a coalition with the US, Britain, France and other allies for the first time to give a response to Israel’s aggression.
