Veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani passes away

Srinagar: Veteran Kashmiri seperatist leader and former Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani passed away on Wednesday evening. Geelani, 92, had developed serious complications on Wednesday afternoon and breathed his last in this evening.

Geelani was ailing for a long -time. Last year, he had announced his resignation as Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman.

Meanwhile, quoting IGP of Kashmir Vijay Kumar ANI reports that restrictions has been imposed including suspension of internet services in the Valley.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was born on 29 September 1929 in Zurimanz villag, he was one of the tallest leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Geelani was previously a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir but later on founded Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. He has served as the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), a conglomerate of pro-freedom parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
