Deobra Redden, 30, was in court after having pleaded guilty to attempted battery with substantial bodily harm, according to New York Post.
On the grounds of his criminal history, Clark District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus denied probation in his case.
‘I think it's time he got a taste of something else because I just can't with that history,’ judge was quoted as saying.
Seconds after she said this, the mean leaped over her bench landing atop her and repeatedly punched her.
In the chaos that ensued the judge can be heard crying out for help as the man screamed expletives.
Several officials and guards rushed to help her struggling with the man before eventually restraining him.
He was arrested and slapped with multiple new felony charges including attacking a protected person, referring to the judge and court officers.
Judge Mary Kay Holthus suffered some injuries but was not hospitalized. However, her court marshal was taken to hospital but is reported to be in stable condition.
Redden, as per court documents, previously spent time in prison including in 2015 after he was handed 19 months for attempted theft.
He was in jail again in 2021 for domestic battery, according to Nevada Department of Corrections records.
