London: The United Kingdom pushed a fresh load of sanctions over Russia on Friday, targeting 386 members of the Russian Parliament for supporting their President Vladimir Putin's invasion into Ukraine, Agence France-Presse reported.

The new sanctions have banned members of the Russian Parliament's lower house from travelling to Britain or accessing any assets they hold inside the territory.

British foreign ministry informed that the lawmakers had voted for the recognition of Lugansk and Donetsk in eastern Ukraine as independent republics, which in turn fuelled the war. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that the UK is targeting those who supported Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine and the brutal conflict. She added that they would keep adding pressure and continue the tightening of the screw on the Russian economy through sanctions.

On Thursday, the UK government had frozen the assets of Chelsea Football Club's owner Roman Abramovich, the highest-profile Russian oligarch sanctioned so far by any Western count. Fifty-Five-year-old Abramovich is one among the seven oligarchs slapped with new British restrictions over the invasion.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had witnessed rampant accusations that he delayed putting sanctions on wealthy Russians. He is accused of ignoring the Russian money flowing into the UK after the collapse of the Soviet Union. So far, Russian vessels, as well as aircraft, are banned inside the UK.
