Typhoon Vamco slammed Philippines, killing one

Typhoon Vamco has caused flooding in main provinces of Luzon Island killing one person, while three more are considered missing. The authorities have circulated warnings on the impact of Typhoon Ulysses prior to its hit in the country, the Philippines News Agency (PNA) said on Thursday.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has dispatched all of its disaster response units to areas affected to assist local government units in aiding people severely affected by the weather disturbance, PNA reported. Vamco caused three landfallsin Quezon Province, south of Manila starting on Wednesday evening.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports that thetyphoon, locally called Ulysses, accelerates intensity while moving westward at the speed of 35 km/h over the Philippines seaaway from the landmass. Vamco had maximum sustained winds of 130km/h and gusts of up to 160 km/has of its latest bulletin.
On its forecast track, Vamco is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Friday morning.
Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) initially spotted a tropical depression northwest of Palau on8thNovember. Later PAGASA reported the depression in the PAR, and it has been intensifying into a typhoon ever since. Vamco is considered to be the 22nd severe storm and tenth typhoon of the 2020 Pacific typhoon season to hit the country.
