New Delhi: An official reported that on Thursday, members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) who were working in Turkey to provide relief and rescue efforts after a terrible earthquake there that claimed over 12,000 lives were successful in pulling a 6-year-old child alive from the rubble.

A 151-person NDRF team has been dispatched to Turkey to support the other organisations involved in the post-quake operations.

The NDRF has established two teams to conduct the rescue operations in Gaziantep, the Turkish city that was most severely damaged by the earthquake.

Besides the minor girl, the NDRF personnel have also rescued a number of people trapped in the debris.

A Home Ministry official said that "India stands with Turkey in this hour of crisis", adding the NDRF has been conducting rescue and relief operations at Ground Zero.

Under 'Operation Dost', India has sent 151 NDRF personnel along with a dog squad and other equipment.
