New York: Former US President Donald Trump will be formally arrested in a case over hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels on Tuesday.

Trump is most likely to be fingerprinted ahead of appearing before a judge for the arraignment.

However, the former president will not be handcuffed, placed in a jail cell, nor subjected to a mug shot, source reportedly said.

Trump’s lawyers on Monday appealed to the court not to allow videography, photography and radio coverage of the arraignment.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office left it to the discretion of the judge.

Alvin Bragg's office reportedly said that Justice Juan Merchan, who was to decide on the matter, previously allowed a limited number of still photos before criminal trial on tax fraud case of last year involving Trump’s real estate company.

Donald Trump reportedly flew into New York City on his private plane on Monday, suggesting he would surrender today at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

The hush money case emerged after adult film actress Stormy Daniels asserted that she was paid $130,000 to keep silent about a sexual encounter she had with Trump at a Lake Tahoe hotel in 2006.

As the controversy triggered during the last days of 2016 presidential campaign Trump denied having had any such relationship with her.

Anticipating protests by Trump fans, police in New York set up barricades near Trump Tower and Manhattan Criminal Court building.

When asked if he was worried about unrest, President Joe Biden expressed ‘faith in the New York Police Department’.

In the midst of this confusion, Trump reportedly was remaining ‘defiant and focused’ and calmly watched the television coverage onboard his flight back to New York City from Florida.

Trump spent the weekend in Florida playing golf alongside planning his campaign.
