New York: The Federal Bureau of Investigation said it was working to determine the motive behind Saturday's attempted assassination of Donald Trump at a campaign rally, News agency Reuters reported

Meanwhile, the federal agency reportedly said that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot and killed by the Secret Service, was the suspect in the case.

Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park reportedly fired at the stage where Trump was addressing a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

One rally attendee was killed and two others injured in the attack while Trump was shot in the ear.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was found to be a registered Republican, would have been able to vote first time in the upcoming polls and he lived an hour away from the place of shooting.

The news agency reported citing the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Thomas Crooks won a $500 "star award" from the National Math and Science Initiative and a video showed him receiving his high school diploma to some ‘applause’.

As a 17-year-old, Crooks donated $15 to ActBlue, which raises money for left-leaning and Democratic politicians.

Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge, told media that the FBI is ‘looking at photographs right now and we're trying to run his DNA and get biometric confirmation.’

Meanwhile, Crooks' father, Matthew Crooks, 53, said he was trying to understand what happened and adding, he would speak about his son after speaking to law enforcement.

Meanwhile US Today quoted a resident from the area, Dan Maloney, saying that ‘It's insanity that anyone would do this’.
