Trump jokes US Navy will ‘take on Cuba’ on way back from Iran
text_fieldsWashington: President Donald Trump has joked that the United States Navy could “take on Cuba” on its way back from Iran, during a speech on Friday evening.
“Cuba’s got problems,” Trump said while addressing the non-profit Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, where he made several digressions in his remarks.
“On the way back from Iran, we’ll have one of our big, maybe the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier — the biggest in the world — we’ll have that come in, stop about 100 yards offshore, and they’ll say, ‘Thank you very much. We give up,’” he said.
The Trump administration is currently pursuing a months-long campaign aimed at pressuring the Cuban government to implement major reforms. At the same time, Trump has repeatedly suggested that the United States could consider military action against the island nation to achieve its objectives.
