Hiroshima: US President Joe Biden told reporters here on Sunday that those who back Ukraine in its cause will not waver, Agence France-Presse reported.

In his briefing to reporters after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was on a surprise visit to the G7 summit here, Biden said that Russia would not be able to break the resolve of Ukraine supporters.

"We will not waver, Putin will not break our resolve as he thought he could," AFP quoted Biden.

Zelensky stole the spotlight of the summit's third day during a storm of diplomatic talks. He is on a long-running campaign to convince Washington so that it would give its approval for allies to provide Kyiv with US-made fighter jets. US authorities have been reluctant to provide Zelensky with the same, pointing out the cost, time needed for training and risk of further escalation of the conflict.

According to Biden, Kyiv had promised Washington that it would not use the said weapons to invade Russian territories.

"Wherever Russian troops are within Ukraine and the area, they would be able to do that," AFP quoted Biden.

Further, on that day, the US announced another package of weaponry for Ukraine.
