Taipei: The Ministry of National Defence (MND) of Taiwan informed that it tracked 10 Chinese military aircraft and two naval ships around the country, Asian News International reported.

The mobiles were tracked around the country between 6 am on Monday (March 20) and 6 am on Tuesday.

According to Taiwan News, the country sent aircraft and naval ships and used land-based missiles to monitor Chinese aircraft and vessels. Of the 10 Chinese aircraft, three were detected in Taiwan's air defence identification zone, MND informed.

According to Taiwan News, one Shaanxi Y-8 anti-submarine warfare plane and one Harbin BZK-005 reconnaissance drone entered the southwest corner of Taiwan's ADIZ. One Harbin Z-9 anti-submarine warfare helicopter was monitored in the southeast sector of the identification zone.

However, no aircraft from the Chinese crossed the Taiwan Straight median line this time.

MND had tracked 28 Chinese military aircraft and four naval vessels around Taiwan Wednesday last. This month, Beijing has sent 292 military aircraft and 76 naval vessels around Taiwan so far. China has increased using its grey zone tactics, regularly sending aircraft into Taiwan's ADIZ since September last, Taiwan News says.

Grey zone tactics mean the effort or series of efforts beyond steady-state deterrence and assurance that attempts to achieve one's security objectives without resorting to direct and sizable use of force, ANI reports.

Since early August 2022, China has increased military action and carried out live-fire drills in six locations around Taiwan. This was after US White House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan on August 2 to 3 then.
