Chennai: The aircraft carrying Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country amid escalating protests, became the most tracked flight on its way to India on Monday afternoon.

According to Flightradar24, a website that displays real-time air traffic, the Bangladesh Air Force aircraft AJAX1431 was tracked by more than 29,000 people, making it the most tracked aircraft globally at that time.

Reports indicated that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left Bangladesh on Monday. Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman confirmed her resignation and announced that an interim government would be established to assume power.

In related news, protesters were seen looting utensils and rugs from Sheikh Hasina's residence amid the ongoing unrest.
