Security sources report six children hurt in mass stabbing in French Alps
text_fieldsParis: Security sources informed that seven people, including six children, suffered injuries in a mass stabbing on Thursday in the French Alpine town of Annecy.
Around 9:45 a.m., a guy carrying a knife attacked a group of toddlers playing in a park next to the town's lake, according to a report from a security source and a local official. The children were all under three years old, Arab News reported.
Gerald Darmanin, the interior minister, wrote on Twitter that the offender “has been arrested thanks to the rapid reaction of security forces.”
According to the security source, at least three of the injured are in critical condition.
As soon as the incident was reported in the French media, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne's office said she would be travelling to the scene. Members of the national parliament also observed a moment of silence.
