Saudi Arabia, Bahrain back Trump's Gaza disarmament deal

Riyadh/Manama: Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have welcomed U.S. President Donald J. Trump's announcement of what they described as a historic Gaza disarmament deal, portraying it as a landmark breakthrough toward comprehensive peace and lasting regional stability.

Saudi Arabia praised Trump's diplomatic leadership and steadfast commitment, while also commending the sustained efforts of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the United States, the Peace Council and other partner nations that helped secure the agreement.

Reaffirming its commitment to the comprehensive peace plan endorsed under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, Riyadh stressed that every stage of the agreement must be implemented faithfully, on schedule and without alteration. It also called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the deployment of an international stabilisation force, uninterrupted humanitarian assistance, continued rehabilitation and reconstruction, and the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza while preserving the unity of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Saudi Arabia further underscored that the agreement should launch a comprehensive political process guaranteeing Palestinian self-determination, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel based on mutual recognition.

Bahrain also hailed the agreement as a decisive step toward ending Palestinian suffering and securing permanent peace and security. It praised the U.S.-led diplomatic efforts, supported by Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and the Board of Peace, reaffirmed full backing for the peace plan under UNSC Resolution 2803, and called for sustained humanitarian aid, reconstruction, the Palestinian Authority's return to Gaza, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital through a two-state solution.
