Windhoek: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday told a gathering in Namibia that outpouring of support he received in the aftermath of Odisha tragedy bespeaks how connected the world is with India.
Jaishankar, addressing the Indian expatriates here, shared that he received many messages from foreign ministers, which also shows how globalized the world today is.
‘A lot of leaders from all over the world and the foreign minister from here [Namibia] also has expressed solidarity and sent sympathy,’ Jaishankar reportedly said.
S Jaishankar arrived at the Namibian Capital of Windhoek on Sunday as a part of a visit to ‘strengthen relations’ with the nation.
Jaishankar , who is to meet the nation’s top leaders, was received by Jenelly Matundu, the deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia.
His scheduled programmes in the nation include meeting with ministers in the Namibian government, and co-chairing the inaugural session of the Joint Commission Meeting with the Namibian deputy PM and Foreign minister, according to NDTV.
The world stood with India when a tragedy happened in India, he said, adding the Prime Minister Modi also received ‘lots of messages’.
Responding to the tragedy back home, S Jaishankar went emotional saying that nevertheless he was physically in Namibia, his heart was in India.
Before heading for Namibia, Jaishankar was in Cape Town, South Africa, attending the Foreign Ministers' Meeting of BRICS.
