Myanmars Military Junta pardons iconic leader Aung Suu Kyi: Report

Yangon: Myanmar’s military junta has announced that it has pardoned iconic leader Aung San Suu Kyi, AFP reported.

Suu Kyi has been in detention since she was ousted in a 2021 military coup.

The leader, whose life and activism have been widely chronicled in media, was pardoned alongside more than 7,000 prisoners during junta amnesty to mark Buddhist Lent, the report said.

‘Chairman of State Administration Council pardons Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who was sentenced by the relevant courts,’ the broadcast reportedly said.
