Louisiana gunman kills eight children, including seven of his own, in mass shooting
text_fieldsA gunman in Shreveport, Louisiana, killed eight children—including seven of his own—while shooting two adults before police shot him dead during a car chase.
Victims were found at two homes and the scene of a carjacking in Bossier City. The suspect, whose name has not been released, opened fire after a domestic dispute.
Two women were wounded; one, believed to have had a relationship with the gunman, suffered life-threatening head injuries. Police described some child victims as the shooter's “descendants”.
“This is a tragic situation, maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had in Shreveport,” said Mayor Tom Arceneaux. “So, right now we’re going to process the information, and it’s in very good hands.”
The incident marks the 114th mass shooting in the US this year, per the Gun Violence Archive—a decline from prior years. At least 65 children aged 0-11 have been killed and 124 injured in gun violence nationwide in 2026.
