Kyiv: In the Ukrainian city of Kherson, liberated from Russian forces on November 11, the administration restored electricity on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine's presidential administration, informed that they are supplying power to the city's critical infrastructure first. After the household, consumers will also receive the same, he said in his notice in the Telegram app.

When Ukraine reclaimed the city, there was no power, and central heating and running water facilities were ruined.

A couple of days later, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said that investigations revealed that Russian forces committed more than 400 war crimes in Ukraine and recovered bodies of civilians as well as servicemen in the Kherson. In his video address, he said that investigators had documented the said crimes. He further said then that in 226 settlements, the law had been stabilised and restored, benefitting more than 1 lakh residents.

Russian forces took over Kherson shortly after its invasion initiated on February 24. Then it was the only regional capital they were able to capture.

On November 11, Moscow pulled back over 30,000 troops from the southern region, and Zelensky declared that Kherson is "ours". Russian retreat had served them a major setback for Moscow, but Kyiv continued reporting shelling the city by Russian forces from the Dnipro River.

The city administration had reported that 15 people were killed and 35 injured in the shelling.
