text_fieldsLos Angeles: In the incident of the mass shooting in Monterey Park in US's California, the shooter shot himself to death, Agence France-Presse reported citing police in Los Angeles.
After the police tracked a wanted van related to the incident and surrounded it, they heard a gunshot from inside, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said.
Luna said that the suspect, identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, sustained a self-inflicted wound and was declared dead on the spot.
The official further said that he could confirm that there are no outstanding suspects from the shooting incident and the motive of the attack was yet to know.
The investigation is still underway, and Sheriff's homicide detectives are working round the clock, gathering information. They are working on determining the motive behind the extremely tragic incident, the officer said.
Monterey Park is largely inhabited by Asian Americans, and it was Lunar New Year or the "Year of the Rabbit" when the gruesome shooting happened, taking ten lives and injuring many others.
Residents of the area are shocked by the incident, saying that such a kind of thing never happened here. One of the residents told AFP that the said neighbourhood used to be very safe, where she could walk alone at night.
More residents from the area have similar opinions, saying that there were even thefts that hardly happen in the neighbourhood.
It was on Saturday a gunman emerged into a ballroom and killed five men and five women. In the firing, at least ten others got wounded, too, authorities informed.
