Senegalese social media influencer Khaby Lame bagged a new record of surpassing 148 million followers on TikTok, the short-form video hosting service. He is known for being silent in his videos.

This 22-year-old content creator posts videos reacting to absurd life-hack videos and recreates videos that show easier methods to perform a more logical hack.

The tiktoker has beaten American dancer Charli D'Amelio who currently has 142.3 million followers, Variety reported.

Lame had previously spoken about his passion to entertain people using comedy.

"I have been passionate about entertaining and making people laugh since childhood. And I am thankful to TikTok for offering me a global stage to share my passion with the rest of the world. I will continue to work towards my dreams, knowing I can count on a beautiful community ready to cheer me on. Thank you and I love you all!" the content creator said.

When asked which one was his favourite video of all, the tiktoker said that he was proud of all of his videos. His first video was posted in March 2020, after he lost his factory office job due to Covid-19. Khaby also has 78 million followers on Instagram.

Celebrities like Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, French actor Omar Sy, and many other cartoons have inspired Khaby Lame in creating content.

He lives in Italy as an expat with his agent. Lame has lived in the European country all his life but still holds Senegalese citizenship. He once said he does not need a piece of paper to identify himself as Italian.
