Kailash Kumar becomes Pakistans first Hindu Lt Colonel

Kailash Kumar, a Hindu officer of the Pakistani Army, was reported to have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel by Dawn on Friday.

Pakistan Television reported that Kumar is the country's very first Hindu Lieutenant Colonelel.

Announcing his congratulations, Fawad Chaudhry said the promotion was "our pride".

Mr. Zartaj Gul Wazir, Pakistan's state minister for climate change, termed the event a proud moment for Pakistan.

"History has been made," Shama Junejo asserted and wished to see the officer promoted to General.
