Justin Trudeau wishes ‘Happy navaratri’ showing first signs of thaw

New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has reached out to Hindu community in Canada wishing them ‘happy Navratri’ ahead of the festival.
Trudeau posted on social media platform X ‘Happy Navratri! I'm sending my warmest wishes to members of the Hindu community and all those who are celebrating this festival.’
Navaratri is a popular festival observed by Hindus in honour of goddess Durga, spanning over nine nights in the month of Chaitra (March/April), and again in the month of Ashvin (September-October), according to NDTV.
Trudeau’s wishing comes weeks after India and Canada sparred over the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, after Trudeau accused India of having involvement in it.
Nijjar was shot dead in a Vancouver suburb on June 18 by some unidentified gunmen.
India called Trudeau’s allegations as absurd and sought evidence, subsequently both countries expelled diplomats and later India suspended visa service to Canadians.
Later, Trudeau made it clear that Canada was not seeking to escalate the dispute.
‘We're taking this extremely seriously, but we're going to continue to engage responsibly and constructively within with the government of India,’ he was quoted as saying.
The Canadian Prime Minister, however, went on raising India diplomatic row with various global leaders including the king of Jordan and UAE President.
