Ukraine forces fought back often capturing several cities previously held by Russians.
Seeing no end to it long-drawn war, Russia reportedly was planning nuclear attack, and one of its proxy leaders in Ukraine nearly said as much.
As Russia has slipped into the familiar groove of threatening with its ultimate weapon, it seems the western forces will not sit back watching the drama.
Now US President Joe Biden has warned against Russia committing "an incredibly serious mistake" of using nuclear weapons.
Biden told reporters at the White House on Tuesday that Russia would be making an incredibly serious mistake if it uses a tactical nuclear weapon.
Biden was responding to the question of Russia's plan to use a dirty bomb or a nuclear weapon.
Ukraine's nuclear energy operator earlier accused Russian of engaging in some "secret manoeuvres at Europe's large nuclear plant.
Earlier in this month USA offered additional military assistance of 625 million dollars to Ukraine.
