New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a detailed phone conversation Tuesday evening with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, on the escalating conflict in West Asia.

In an X post, Jaishankar wrote: "A detailed conversation this evening with Foreign Minister @araghchi of Iran on the latest developments regarding the ongoing conflict. We agreed to remain in touch."

The call underscores India's active diplomacy as regional hostilities intensify, involving US strikes on Iranian targets, clashes with Israel, and risks to stability, energy flows, and expatriate safety.

India continues to push for de-escalation, restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy, while prioritizing its nationals' security and energy supplies.

The ministers agreed to stay in close contact, highlighting strong India-Iran ties in trade, energy, and projects like Chabahar Port. This follows earlier calls in February and early March, where Jaishankar stressed civilian protection.

New Delhi's balanced stance—voicing concerns, offering condolences, and advocating peace—reinforces its role as a key player in averting wider conflict.
