Lawyer and relative of US Vice President Kamala Harris, Meena Harris, took to Twitter to condemn hate campaigns carried out by Hindutva groups. It's time to talk about violent hindu extremism, Meena tweeted.

The tweet is accompanied by a screenshot of an article titled 'It is time to talk about violent Christian terrorism' about extremist Christian groups in America and the dangers they pose.

"As you've surely seen from India over the last week alone, this headline could easily read, "It's Time to Talk About Violent Hindu Extremism." It's all connected," Meena tweeted.

Meena also slammed protests burning photos of Rihanna, Greta Thunberg and herself.

"Weird to see a photo of yourself burned by an extremist mob but imagine what they would do if we lived in India," she responded to protests.

"I'll tell you—23 yo labor rights activist Nodeep Kaur was arrested, tortured & sexually assaulted in police custody. She's been detained without bail for over 20 days," she added.

"Y'all literally have headlines that say "Brave Indian men burned pictures of women who support farmers" and think that's normal," wrote Harris.

Having initially come to the fore expressing solidarity to pop artists Rihanna and climate activist Greta Thunberg who brought global recognition to the Farmers' protests in Delhi, Harris later extended solidarity to the protests. Meanwhile, a number of dignitaries, including Union ministers and Bollywood stars, responded that foreigners need not comment on India's internal affairs.
