An Iranian military spokesperson has derided United States efforts to project ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Iran, asserting that Washington is effectively “negotiating with itself.”

Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, made the remarks in a prerecorded message broadcast on state television on Wednesday.

Criticising the United States, he said the “strategic power” it once claimed had now turned into a “strategic failure,” adding that a country portraying itself as a global superpower would have already exited the situation if it were capable. He further accused Washington of attempting to present defeat as a diplomatic agreement, stating that its “era of empty promises” had ended.

Zolfaghari also questioned internal divisions within the United States, asking whether they had reached a stage where the country was “negotiating with itself.”

His comments came shortly after the Donald Trump administration reportedly conveyed a 15-point ceasefire proposal to Iran through Pakistan.

Reiterating Iran’s stance, Zolfaghari said the country’s position had remained unchanged from the outset and would continue to do so, asserting that Iran would “never come to terms” with the United States—“not now, not ever.”
