I inherited a war that should have never happened: Trump about Russia-Ukraine war
text_fieldsNew York: President Donald Trump blamed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and top U.S. allies in Europe for the war between Russia and Ukraine saying it would not have happened ‘with strong and proper U.S. and Ukrainian LEADERSHIP’ in place.
Trump’s statement came just as Ukrainian, U.S. and European officials meeting in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss the peace deal proposed by the US to end the war.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said the war ‘began long before’ he came to power for the second term, and took at dig at ‘Sleepy Joe Biden Administration’ for worsening the situation.
During a meeting with Zelenskyy at the White House in April, Trump called out him saying ‘You don’t start a war against someone 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles’.
Stressing his leadership qualities, Trump said if he were the president back in 2022, President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine.
Saying that he inherited the Ukraine war that took place when Putin understood that ‘now is my chance’ after seeing ‘Sleepy Joe in action’, meaning Joe Biden was in power at the time.
President, mincing no words, criticized Ukraine leadership for not expressing ‘gratitude’ for the US efforts to bring peace, alongside took on European countries for continue buying Russian oil.
However, Zelenskyy thanked the US for several times for its support in Ukraine’s war against Russia.
Taking on Joe Biden, Trump said ‘THE USA CONTINUES TO SELL MASSIVE $AMOUNTS OF WEAPONS TO NATO, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UKRAINE (CROOKED JOE GAVE EVERYTHING, FREE, FREE, FREE, INCLUDING “BIG” MONEY!). GOD BLESS ALL THE LIVES THAT HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE HUMAN CATASTROPHE!’
Trump’s response came after Zelenkyy on Sunday said in a post that ‘further work’ is underway to ensure that Ukrainian viewpoints are considered in the peace proposal.
