‘Homeless’ woman sleeping in US park dies being run over by lawnmower
text_fieldsCalifornia: A woman, believed to be sleeping in a park in California, was killed after having been run over by a lawnmower on July 8, ABC 10 reported.
The accident happened around noon when an employee belonging to the Grover Landscape Service was cutting the grass using a John Deere tractor.
The lawn mowing employee called 911 after he noticed a body in the area he had covered, a spokesperson for Modesto Police Department said.
The employee, whose identity has not been revealed, claimed he had not seen the sleeping woman.
The woman, identified as Christine Chavez, 27, died at the scene and was released to the coroner, according to the report.
The victim’s family complained that their grief was compounded by ‘the disrespectful, blotched clean-up.’
‘They left big chunks of her all over the place, just covered up with the grass,’ the victim's sister Rosalinda reportedly said.
Rosalinda said the family was shocked to see a chunk of her sister as they went over there to the place.
‘Even when they go and pick up a dog from the street they take more time,’ she was quoted as saying.
The victim’s father, Christopher said he had picked up his daughter’s bones, skull and teeth from the place days after the accident.
The family alleged that Christine Chavez’s body was handled carelessly because she was homeless.
