New York: In the popular Golden Globe Awards announced today amidst the pandemic, television series 'The Crown', based on the British Queen's family and life, won three awards. Josh O'Connor won Best TV Actor, Emma Corrin bagged the Best TV drama actress, and Gillian Anderson won Best Performance by an Actress in a television supporting role. The Crown also won the award for the Best television series.

Minari, written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung, topped the foreign-language film category. While Rosamund Pike was named Best Actress in the Comedy and Musical category for her role in I care a lot, Schitt's Creek was named the Best TV series- musical or comedy. Disney's Soul bagged the Best animated film award.

Nomadland won the award for Best film-drama while its director Chloe Zhao won the award for the Best director. Chadwick Boseman for posthumously awarded Best actor in a film drama award. Other awards include Queen's Gambit for Best television movie, Anya Taylor Joy for Best television actress for her role in Queen's Gambit and Aaron Sorkin for the Best screenplay in his The trial of Chicago 7.

Minari did not make it into the main competition as it was screened under foreign language films despite being based in America. However, the film has been considered as one that could create ripples in the upcoming Oscars. The fact that the movie was made to compete in the foreign cinema category due to its language has been widely criticised.
