Islamabad: Pakistan has condemned the US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities a day after the country decided to formally nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize next year, NDTV reported.

Joining Israel's war against Iran, the American warplanes and submarines attacked three nuclear sites in the country.

Hours after the offensive, Pakistan's foreign ministry stated: ‘We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region.’

Pakistan’s response comes a day after it recommended President Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for Trump’s ‘decisive diplomatic intervention’ during India’s Sindoor Operation.

Calling the escalation of violence as ‘deeply disturbing’, Pakistan said the attacks on Iran violate ‘all norms of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter’.

Pakistan, alongside having close ties with Iran, shares a 900-kilometre border with the country, said that ‘the unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran, is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond.’

Calling for bringing the conflict to an end, Pakistan said ‘Recourse to dialogue, diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter remain the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region’.

Pakistan made the statement only a day after it decided to nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, which comes a couple of days after the US President hosted Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir at the White House.

Pakistan recommended Trump for Nobel Peace Prize for his ‘decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis’.

President Trump on Saturday said that the US planes carried out ‘a very successful attack’ on Iran’s three nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
