Kabul/ New Delhi: Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan witnessed two deadly explosions earlier this morning. Since the event occurred in a highly-populated area near a Gurudwara, more death and casualties are expected, said local news reports.

"We are deeply concerned at the reports emanating from Kabul about an attack on a sacred Gurudwara in the city. We are closely monitoring the situation and waiting for further details on the unfolding developments," said the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in response to the incident.

Around 16 devotees were reportedly present in the Gurudwara where multiple gunshots were heard this morning. There are currently no injuries known so far, said Afghanistan's Tolo News, according to ANI.

A similar explosion had earlier hit Kabul's police district 4 on Monday, June 11 where explosives were carried on a bicycle. Several people were injured in the incident.

Around 19 people were killed and 15 others were injured in another explosion at the capital of Afghanistan's Balkh province on May 25. Masjid Sharif Hazrat Zakaria mosque in Kabul City was also rocked on the same day when two people were killed.

Rina Amiri, the US Special Envoy for Women and Human Rights in Afghanistan said that the Taliban should make sure that they do not distort the life of their fellow citizens.

"The heinous attacks in Mazar & Kabul serve no purpose but to inflict further devastation on innocent Afghans who have suffered enough," tweeted Rina Amiri demanding the Taliban to consider the safety and security of its citizens.

Apart from these, 30 people were also murdered in the blast at traffic square near Kabul's fourth police district traffic square, reported NDTV.
